Toyota experiences best month in over five years

We are very thrilled to report that for the month of August 2013, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), USA, Inc. reported sales of 231,537 units. This figure marks an increase of 18.4 percent over August 2012 on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. As for the Toyota division of TMS, sales for August were at 201,745 units. This is up 18.4 percent year-over-year on a DSR basis.

Other highlights from the month include the fact that the Toyota division was the number one retail brand for the sixth consecutive month. Top sellers included the new Toyota Camry, which was the best-selling car in America with sales of nearly 45,000 units, and the Toyota Prius family which was 30 percent with its best-ever August.

Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager, spoke of the successful month by saying:

“The auto industry continues to be a bright spot in the economic recovery. … August capped a great summer for new vehicle sales, and it was Toyota’s best month in more than five years.”
