2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in put to the test

Earlier this year, Toyota launched the first ever Prius Plug-in MPG Challenge. The first wave of the Challenge was rather successful and we are proud to announce the launch of wave two! We hope you’ll read on for all the details on the Prius Plug-in MPG Challenge!

As you may or may not know, the Toyota Prius has always been a very popular hybrid model. Over the years the Prius family has continued to evolve and expand, and the newest models are looking better than ever. As its name suggests, the Prius Plug-in MPG Challenge features the all-new Toyota Prius plug-in model.

The Challenge puts several ecologically conscious groups behind the wheel of a Toyota Prius Plug-In. The groups then compete against one another to see who can earn the highest overall MPG over the course of a 30-day period. In the first wave, Helping Hands Food Pantry earned the top spot thanks to an average of 356 MPGe over 506 total miles.

David Christ, general manager of the New York Region of Toyota, spoke of the event by saying:

“As the first wave of the Challenge comes to a successful end, we look forward to an equally spirited competition between our environmental influencers for wave two. … The Prius Plug-In MPG Challenge is yet another opportunity for Toyota to demonstrate its commitment to educating drivers on how they can make an ecological difference in this world.”
