Safety First In The 2014 Toyota Highlander
Sport utility vehicles are great all-around vehicles, and the 2014 Toyota Highlander available at Schaumburg Toyota is one of the best SUVs out there. It offers exciting driving performance on the road and the ability to take your adventures off the beaten path from time to time and it offers many of the convenient features and luxurious amenities you’ll find in an elegant luxury sedan. And it offers something you can only find in an SUV — lots and lots of interior space for passengers, up to eight, and even more space for cargo, as much as 83.7 cubic feet of it.
The 2014 Toyota Highlander offers something perhaps even more important than performance, versatility, and luxury, however: safety. The 2014 Toyota Highlander was named a 2014 Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), earning top scores of Good in four important crash test criteria including moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraints and seats, and a score of Acceptable in the small overlap front test category. It also scored a rating of Advanced in the IIHS’s front crash prevention assessment for its available Pre-Collision System feature which can reduce the severity of a frontal collision.
The IIHS testing procedures recently changed to a more stringent protocol to more completely assess vehicles like the 2014 Toyota Highlander which offer the highest levels of protection.
“We’ve made it more difficult for manufacturers this year… Following a gradual phase-in, the small overlap crash is now part of our basic battery of tests, and good or acceptable performance should be part of every vehicle’s safety credentials. We also felt it was time to offer extra recognition to manufacturers that are offering a proven crash avoidance technology,” said Adrian Lund, IIHS President.
The 2014 Toyota Highlander is a first time IIHS Top Safety Pick+ winner, and you can check it out today at your Des Plaines area Toyota dealer, Schaumburg Toyota.
