Toyota continues to employ Americans

Toyota recently announced plans to increase its production of engines at its Alabama Corporate Toyota Motor Manufacturing plant in Huntsville, Alabama.  The plant has been a significant part of the Toyota enterprise for a decade now and thanks to this latest announcement by Toyota, the plant will prove to continue to be important to Toyota as a whole, not to mention the importance to the Huntsville, Alabama community.

The news announced the Huntsville, Alabama plant will begin to manufacture four cylinder engines, in addition to the V6 and V8 engines the plant is currently producing.  The addition of the four cylinder engine will make the Alabama plant the only Toyota plant in the world producing all three types of engines.  More importantly, however, adding the production of the four cylinder engine also means the addition of 240 jobs.  This brings the total number of employees at the Alabama plant to 1,000.

Toyota has said the four cylinder engines produced in Alabama will be used to power the latest model year of the brand’s popular Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Sienna and Venza models.  Consumers can look for the 2012 model year of these vehicles on local Toyota lots, like that of Elgin Toyota dealer Schaumburg Toyota, in the coming months.
