Fall brings a new Prius to town

July 14th, 2011 by

In Schaumburg, used Prius models may soon become in abundance at our local Schaumburg Prius dealer, Schaumburg Toyota, as the staff at the dealership prepares to welcome a new model to the Prius family.  The model is the Prius v, v standing for versatile, and is designed as a larger option to the well-selling, but space restricting Toyota Prius.  The Prius v is the first of three new Prius models set to be released over the next six to nine months.

Due to hit the Schaumburg Prius lot this fall, the Prius v will be similar in shape and look to the current third generation Prius, only it will be bigger.  The Prius v is six inches longer, three inches taller, an inch wider and has an added three inches to the wheelbase of the third generation Prius.  This makes for 50 percent more cargo room inside the vehicle.  Additionally, the rear seats of the vehicle slide forward and backward, giving drivers the ability to configure their own cargo space as needed.  (These seats recline too!)

Toyota has leaked that the Prius v will utilize the same engine as is currently used by those used Prius vehicles sitting on the Schaumburg used Prius dealer lot.  The 134 horsepower, hybrid powertrain will earn the Prius v between 40 and 44 miles per gallon in fuel efficiency.  Although these numbers are a little shy of those posted by the third generation Toyota Prius, they are still miles above the industry average for a vehicle the size of the Toyota Prius v.

Other important details regarding the new Toyota Prius v, such as pricing of the vehicle, have yet to be released but experts expect the price tag to be comparable with that of the third generation Prius, which retails anywhere from about $23,000 to about $29,000.  Look for the Toyota Prius v on your Schaumburg Toyota lot this fall.

Then, next spring will welcome the Toyota Prius PHV, a plug-in hybrid version of the Prius, and the Toyota Prius c, a compact version of the Prius specifically designed for urban driving.  Needless to say, we at Schaumburg Toyota are excited for these future models to arrive on our lot!
