March 24th, 2016 by

Toyota vehicles have a great reputation for being dependable and reliable. They also have a great reputation for being safe vehicles that perform under pressure and in collisions to help keep occupants safer. Now Toyota has announced an even greater commitment to safety, with plans to equip nearly every model with automatic braking systems by the end of next year.

Toyota plans to include their advanced Toyota Safety Sense™ system as standard equipment in nearly every vehicle. The system is based on camera and laser technologies to help reduce the likelihood of a crash or reduce its severity. It includes a pre-collision system with available pedestrian detection, and can automatically apply the brakes as needed.

According to Toyota Motor North America CEO Jim Lentz, “At Toyota, we are committed to creating better ways to move for everyone… High-level driver assist technologies can do more than help protect people in the event of a crash; they can help prevent some crashes from ever happening in the first place. We are proud to help lead this industry in standardizing these systems and bring automated braking to our customers sooner rather than later.”
