Toyota Prius Enters Global Top Three Vehicle
When the Toyota Prius went on sale fifteen years ago it was kind of a niche vehicle, but that isn’t the case anymore. These days that is no longer the case. Powered by demand in the United States and incentives in Japan, the Toyota Prius has turned itself into a mainstream hit becoming the world’s third best selling car line in the first quarter. Giving Schaumburg Toyota even more reasons to be proud is the fact that one of the vehicles the Prius trails is Toyota’s own Corolla, which broke three hundred thousand sales during this year’s first quarter.
The four model Prius family of vehicles strong showing has also resulted in the Toyota brand having three models in the top ten in the United States thus far this year. The Prius joining the Camry and Corolla on the top ten list proves it isn’t a fluke, and that there’s a long term market for hybrids according to Eric Noble, president of the automotive consultancy The Car Lab. This surge has not been limited to one particular area seeing as, in addition to the United States, the Prius sales in Japan have more than tripled in the first quarter of 2012 over sales in 2011.
It is certainly welcome news that customers are seeing the value of the Toyota Prius outside of the environmentalist community. The Prius family can be right for anyone, and if you’re in the Chicagoland area then coming to Schaumburg Toyota could result in you driving off with your brand new family vehicle.
