Toyota teams with Boys and Girls Clubs of America
Toyota has always held the point of view that long-term success is just as important as short-term success. We recognize that the vehicles of tomorrow will be designed by the youth of today. With this in mind, it makes sense from both a business and charitable standpoint that Toyota has teamed up with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to establish a college readiness initiative.
The initiative, which is also aimed to help combat high school dropout crisis, will help turn diplomas into degrees. We at Schaumburg Toyota are proud to be a part of this effort. Who knows? Maybe it will help someone who might one day design a future Toyota Venza model.
The announcement of the partnership was made at an education celebration on the Bowie State University campus. The event was attended by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, who said, “To move forward in this changing new economy, we must create jobs and expand opportunity – and education is the best tool we have.” In addition to the Diplomas to Degrees initiative, Toyota has also pledged $1 million for educational scholarships to over 225 Boys and Girls Club alumni and staff.
Education is important at so many different levels in our family, and we are glad Toyota continues to reaffirm this fact. It was the past and continuing education that has led to the Toyota models of today that make us so proud. If you’re in the Chicagoland area, stop by the lot. You might just find a vehicle that makes you proud, too.
